Hartley's Crocodile Adventures

An absolute paradise - then to discover these wetlands are man made - mind blowing!

My what big eyes you have!

Like the mirror reflection of the croc in this image. Would've liked to take more shots, but was getting sick of having my feet wet up to my knees!..... LOL only joking!

The speed of which those seemingly appearing lazy crocodiles, can snap and engulf their prey was so fast, I simply couldnt catch it on my new camera - as had yet to familarise myself with all the buttons. But yes, they look mean and despite the closeness of the shot, I wasnt in any danger. Click on image to expand, or hover mouse over thumbnails below to hide text.

Even the mossies are fluoro colour up in Cairns!

In animals with thick dermal layers, such as adult reptiles, their ability to camouflage themselves, known as background adaptation, is simply amazing! Image 1.

Hey little buddy...ssshh.. its ok, just taking your picture..

Hows this for a shot! Im taking a risk on the fact that hes just fed, and figuring he will ignore lil' ol' me sneaking up on him for a couple of snaps. (ooh I can hear you muttering now, I will get SNAPPED if I don't watch it). Bazinger - just joking again :) All from the safety of the boat metres away!

This is what you call a 'toofer'... Two for the price of one!

The cheeky tour guide had us check for saftey jackets under our seats on the boat. Of course we all did - only to come up empty! Then he goes to plainly say, the only thing that will save us from the plentitude of crocs, if the boat goes asunder, is to swim faster than the guy next to you!

"Where's Wally"

"Where's Wally"

It's nice to have that 10 seconds needed to play 'spot the crocodiles' from the comfort of the boat

You'd think that kangaroos really ARE jumping in the streets in good ol' Oz.
