Cold, but fishing is Gold.... This quiet 120-year-old Geelong pier may be turned into a residential development, the first of its kind in Victoria. The proposed $135-million development would comprise apartments, hotels, shops and a convention centre and a marina on Corio Bay. The 333-metre-long pier would also be widened and extended to accommodate cruise ships. At present, the privately owned pier is home to a fast-food outlet and a restaurant.

Its hard not to watch this film without thinking not only of Gallipoli, but also of the loss of the Australian actor Jon Blake. Forever remembered as a charismatic actor on the brink of stardom, incl in the above named film, Blake was just 28 when a car crash near Port Augusta confined him to a darkened room of his family's home.
