"Australia's Big Things" Most big things, which began as tourist traps found along major roads between destinations, are now something of a cult phenomenon, and sometimes used as an excuse for a road trip! Today, many are considered works of folk art and have been heritage-listed. Go to link for more Public Art>>

Yarra Bend Parklands, Kew

Following last year’s sunshine-soaked musical extravaganza, Kew the Music - a week-long outdoor festival - is back for 2014 with an amazing line-up and a brand new location in Kew Gardens.

Yarra Bend Park is the largest area of natural bushland near the heart of Melbourne and the Historic Studley Park Boathouse, Kew, 10 minutes from the city centre and its restuarant dining was where we celebrated my husbands 50th.  We ended taking our coffees at the indoor/outdoor café, while family and friends enjoyed the sweeping views of the Yarra River.

Every year Kew brings some tropical colour to winter with its annual orchids festival. The spectacular display is found in the Princess of Wales Conservatory and runs for a month during February and March.

Last year (2013) The IncrEdibles festival also hosted The Rose Garden Tea Party - a beautiful display of edible plants growing out of plates, cups, teapots, jugs and platters.

Kew the music, the gardens, the festivals - get the party started! Which also means - queue the long list of photos I still have to upload and take! :)
